With rising energy prices, daily headlines about climate change and greater awareness about responsible business, Croydon Business and ENVIBE came together to host “Energise your business” and created a spark during “Love London” fortnight.

Businesses met bright and early for a breakfast feast on the morning of Wednesday 11^th June 2008 with the opportunity to learn how businesses can send their energy consumption plummeting.

With advice from the experts at CEN (Creative Environmental Network) and GAP (Global Action Plan) businesses soon learnt how to confidently calculate their carbon footprint, picked up on the latest renewable energy types and shared best practice with quick wins being presented by Chequers Contract Services, The Home Office and Futures Supplies and Support Services.  Businesses came away with enough knowledge to fuel their business to become more energy efficient.

The event came to a close with businesses committing to implementing one energy efficient measure.  Since the event, businesses that have reported on steps taken to reducing their energy consumption by measures including switching monitors off at night, replacing light bulbs with energy efficient alternatives and by making best use of natural daylight.
