Celebration with the stars! |

The environmental stars shone out in Croydon on 3rd October 2007. Envibe invited Croydon businesses to celebrate their achievements and inspire one another at Tiger Tiger together with the Envibe partners. Local businesses which were new to Envibe were also invited and discovered hot to reap the rewards of improved environmental performance. Anna Eltringham Envibe Co-ordinator kicked off the celebration, ”Envibe is a partnership of government funded organisations helping businesses recognise their environmental responsibilities and take positive action…We do that through meeting with you 1:1, by holding events where you can learn from experts and share gripes and glories with other businesses and through a range of projects and campaigns…Finally Envibe is not only about serious business response to the serious challenges of climate change. It is also about serious recognition of the strides many local businesses are making.”
Envibe’s partners and champion businesses, including Futures Supplies, First Impressions, SELTRANs, Envirowise and the Environment Agency, provided a market place for businesses to discuss environmental matters. Businesses could also share their experiences of working on environmental issues. The star performers were recognised for their achievements. Unusual examples included Rowland Brothers’ Funeral Directors use of shredded paper to line coffins and Mondial’s Ten Environmental Commandments for the office.
The wider community also got involved and New Life Christian School performed a dance to “Feeling Hot Hot Hot” and sung their own song about climate change. All in all a great night where new, old and future Envibe businesses met, celebrated and supported one another in their collective commitment to the environment. |
