In October 2008, Croydon hosted an Eco Expo in and around the town centre. The project provided an opportunity to make a difference and reduce our Borough’s carbon footprint. Environmentally the project was low impact, yet visually and inspirationally impressive for all of Croydon. The project consisted of twenty events accompanied by four ongoing Exhibitions.

Envibe, working with its partners delivered four environmental workshops, open to local businesses across all sizes and sectors to receive expert advice helping them to improve their environmental performance whilst understanding how to achieve the recognition they deserve in going green!

The workshops delivered were:

The two workshops engaged existing Envibe award winners to explain and encourage them to achieve the next award level.

Wednesday 22 October: How green purchasing can improve your business’ environmental credentials

Delivered by Envibe’s partner London Remade, the workshop gave a good introduction to the business case for green procurement. The workshop was highly interactive whilst addressing the environmental savings associated and potential risk. Businesses looked at product samples and materials currently available on the market.

Thursday 23 October: Sustainable Staff – Building and Empowering Internally

Delivered by Carbon Smart, the workshop empowered colleagues and management into taking further action within their organisation. Delegates were able to communicate the challenges of climate changes positively, helping them overcome objections. The workshop also addressed environmental behaviour, how to communicate and motivate staff and enabled organisations to set goals and targets.
